Jadon, Cole, and Carter welcome you!

Welcome to Jadon, Cole, and Carter's blog. Well, considering they can't type, it is really Mommy and Daddy's blog, but since the primary subjects of almost every conversation are the three boys, we'll say it is theirs. We look forward to sharing the many every day happenings and fun snapshots we experience as life goes on here in our little world. Hopefully we'll even become skilled enough to get some video clips up eventually. Enjoy!

The devil is in the details and G-d is in the irony!

We had a very busy day today. Not only did we spend the entire morning and early afternoon at a local farm, but then we rushed home bathed (because we were really filthy) and then headed out for Jadon and Cole's afternoon finale performace for their singing class and dinner with my parents. It is often on days like these that I count my blessings when everything goes "right." Even when something goes wrong, I am usually thankful that not EVERYTHING went wrong. Today was one of those days that ran pretty smoothly. There was nothing too catastrophic to complain about. Carter sobbed in the raspberry fields because he was "done" and wanted to go to the car. Jadon threw a fit on the little train ride because he decided mid-ride that he wanted to sit in front instead of in back. Eh. Such is the day in the life of three boys...no big deal. Actually, nothing today was a big deal, but after having two very ironic situations happen, I decided I had to share.

Situation one:
After bathing, we quickly changed and rushed out the door to the boys' performance venue at a coffee house on the outdoor walk at our mall. The boys were listening to the background track for the songs they were going to sing for their performance and singing along happily. I was talking to a girlfriend of mine on the cell (yes...with an ear piece). There are NEVER any available parking spaces right along the outdoor walk at our mall. One must park in one of the structures or in the outdoor lot behind the mall. As I pulled in there was a spot available right along the walk...not 5 spaces from the coffee house. I was thrilled and commented to my very religious girlfriend that G-d must really like me today becuase that never happens. As the words came out of my mouth I immediately thought, "huh,
G-d probably has much better things to do than get me a prime parking space...I should probably take that back." Feeling a bit silly, I said out loud to my friend that G-d probably didn't care that I got the space and added that he was probably annoyed that I thought he would care. As I turned off the car, my CD player made a funny grinding sound and "ate" the boys' CD. Literally. Gone. Ha! Now I am being punished. All turned out fine. Another girl in the class was doing a song from the same CD and thankfully she had hers with her (her mom often borrowed ours). So the boys performance went off without a hitch, but now I have to get my car CD player fixed. Ironic, huh?

So here we go with irony #2 for the day:
This evening, a friend of mine stopped by to drop off tortillas (long story). She has twin boys and a little girl (all pretty close in age to my kids). It was 7:15p and my kids were already in their pajamas. Her kids were in the car and she wasn't about to let them out (they were in their PJs too!). So my kids were running barefoot all over outside and playing with her kids through their car window while she and I chatted for a few minutes. Suddenly, I hear a hissing sound and immedialtly realize that our sprinklers are about to go on. Jadon and Cole are currently on the porch, but Carter...oh poor Carter is in the middle of the grass in his PJs. I'm screaming "move, get off, move," which probably made very little sense to him. I didn't dare run onto the lawn to grab him, knowing full well that I would end up soaked if I did. Somehow, by some miracle when the sprinklers went on, Carter made a quick break for the porch and got away unscathed...literally not one drop of water on him!! How lucky!! So after that happened, I said goodbye to my friend and hurried the kids inside. It was now way past their bedtime and their feet were filthy from running around barefoot outside. They were all happily heading up the stairs for bed and I decided they should all go stand in the tub for a second to rinse their feet. They were thrilled at the idea and eagerly ran into the bathroom. I ran the water and they all hopped in. I told them to rub their feet on the bottom of the tub and then hop out, dry them, and get into bed. Somewhere in the middle of my instructions and before I realized what he was doing, Carter plopped right down on his bottom in the tub...fully clothed in his PJs. Ha! We escaped even a single drop from the sprinklers and now...

Ah...the irony!

I love you too mama!

Well, I was wondering with all his language when it would finally happen and it finally did today! Today, I told Carter I loved him and he responded with "I love you too mama." He melts my heart everyday, but today was extra special.

Old Stomping Grounds

Well, I'm back at UCLA for a summer school class. I just finished the second week today. It is going to FLY by. Only a six week class...12 meetings and one of the meeting for later in the month is cancelled and one is the final, so I have 4 down and 6 to go! It is tons of work and really reminds me of the differences between junior college level and university level. I was admittedly getting spoiled over the last year. This is a nice reality check. My class is an upper division philosophy class (medical ethics). It is very "philosophical" which is so not my style, but interesting nonetheless.

David and Jessi got married on Sunday in a beautiful ceremony. Jessi looked amazing and we all had a lot of fun being part of their special day. Jadon, Cole, and Carter were totally into the dancing and couldn't be dragged off the floor! They literally were on it from the beginning to the end of the evening.

We'll be spending 4th of July at my parent's (as always). It is such an ingrained part of my family tradition that I really can't imagine being happy anywhere else on that day. As always, I am very much looking forward to it!

That's about it for now. I know I need to get some pictures up. We got a new camera and have been using it, but haven't bothered to upload anything from it yet. I will have to do that soon!

Have a safe and happy holiday weekend!
